The founder of Master Tattoo Studio
"Tahiti Felix" Lynch.

Master Tattoo Studio was first called "Tahiti Felix's" , but later renamed in October of 1949 to it's present title. Here he is pictured above with an Old Salt of the period "Sailor Cox" back in 1954.

Tahiti Felix learned to tattoo from another artist named Mac McKeaver, at the famous Pike in Long Beach California. Learning the trade from 1938 until early 1949, at which time, opening his own studio in his new home, San Diego, California.

Since it's inception, Master Tattoo Studio has changed its location 5 times.

  • 1949 - 1954 the studio was at 317 F. Street.
  • 1955 - 1956 the second location was briefly at 820 4th Avenue .
  • 1956 - 1980 the studio remained at 141 West Broadway.
  • During the mid 60's thru 1981 Maurice worked at the 401 Mission Ave. Arcade / Tattoo Studio in Oceanside, Ca. while brother Hiro worked alongside his father back in San Diego. Serving the locals as well as the Marine Corps occupying the area.
  • 1980 - 1990 our location changed to 326 West Broadway next door to the Play land Arcade & Cindy's Topless Bar. This location is now home to San Diego's "Hall Of Justice" Courthouse.
  • 1990-2005 at 944 5th Avenue in downtown's trendy Gaslamp Quarter district.
  • 2006-Present 439 Broadway (Still in the Gaslamp Quarter and just around the corner)

Today Master Tattoo studio is survived by son's Maurice & Hiro Lynch, (Pictured above with their father in the early 50's) along with residents artists: Al Avila, Marc Womer, Gil Taimana with piercer Chris Claxton.
